How To Get Dislodged A Nicotine Chewing Gum Stucked In Throat?

Hi, I accidentally swallowed a piece of nicotine chewing gum last night and think it is stuck in my throat, i have tried to dislodge by throwing up and drinking lots of fluids but can still feel it there. Its making me feel very odd. How do i dislodge it, is it really harmful especially as it is nictone stuff and quite big

Hi,

First of all, stop worrying as no chewing gum is known to get stuck in throat or esophagus unless there is any stricture or so. If there is no difficulty in swallowing there is no foreign body. The commonest cause is edema in the pharynx. Consult an ENT Surgeon for endoscopy to find the cause which can be swelling. Anti-inflammatory and steroids along with a PPI like Pantoprazole will help you the most.
