Is Taking Formonide Recommended During Last Trimester Of Pregnancy?
Hello Drs. My wife aged 39 is 28 weeks pregnant. She is suffering from worsening dry cough during night. Her gynae & physicians have prescribed Formonide. I'd be much grateful if you could let me know if it is safe during the last trmester of pregnancy. Thank you. Yours, ravi
thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com....
well formonide is a category C drug in pregnancy which means it should be used if the potential benefit exceeds the risk to fetus... if your gynaecologist has prescribed this drug to your wife, he/she must have felt that the benefit will be much more...so you can take the drug...there is probably not much harm...and during the third trimester, the ill effects of the drugs start to decrease... what you can do is you can ask your doctor if there is any alternative to it....which would be safer during pregnancy...hope your doctor will look into the matter....
hope that was useful... contact me for any further information....
regards
