Is Severe Tonsillitis, Intermittent Fever & Fatigue A Side Effect Of Consuming Taxim - O For 10 Days For Typhoid?

My husband (age 27 yrs) was prescribed taxim - O 200mg (14 days) for typhoid. He now has severe tonsilitis (unable to consume food or water) after taking tablets for 10 days. Is this a side-effect of the drug? Should we dis-continue taxim - O? What should be done for the tonsilitis?

Also, he has fever & fatigue intermittently.

Hi,
Tonsillitis is not caused due to side effect of cefalosporine group of drug rather given to cure it. It is sometime found in enteric fever complication throat problem may be found . So complete course of taxim o and along with it take analgesic (NSAID ) , PPI , warm saline gargle , steam inhalation .
Hope this ll cure ur problem if symptom persists then get throat swab culture sensitivity and antibiotic course accordingly.
