Is Normal Menstruation Possible In A Woman Suffering With PCOS?

Hi, I have PCOS. As I am planning for pregnancy, my doctor prescribed Ovacare Forte, Fol5, Siphene and Primolut N. This month I have not taken PrimolutN but had periods. My pregnancy test was negative. So is this normal period or is it spotting symptom of pregnancy. Shall I take siphene again.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

I have read your description and understand your concern.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal imbalance disorder affecting menstrual cycle and ovulation leading to difficulty in conceiving.
However, it is a treatable condition and when medications are given to correct them, there is a possibility of improvement in chances of conceiving.

What medications are given by your doctor is right and it would help to:
1. Regularize your cycles.
2. Help to ovulate in time.
Kindly follow strictly the treatment and follow-up advise as given. Have patience as it may take certain amount of time for you to conceive.

Along with the medications, kindly consume low carbohydrate diet and exercise regularly to reduce weight and to keep your weight under check.

Try to follow what the doctor advises during this cycle as has been planned and treated and hope for the best.

Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
