Is Muscle Pain A Side Effect Of Cholesterol Medication?

This question is in regards to a family member... the family member is currently on the 4th or 5th cholestrol medication - a common side effect is muscle pain- explaining the switches...is there any way to avoid this side effect on choloestrol meds or only by lowering the dose?

Hi,

Usually the only way is lowering the dose or withdrawal of the medication.
But if it is an old generation statin, like simvastatin, it may be possible try to change to small dose of newer generation statin
