Welcome and thank you for using HCM!
Let me explain your situation and give some more information about underfunctioning thyroid.
You didn't report much about the cause of the hypothyroidism, but in most of the cases an autoimmune disease is responsible, it means that your body produces antibodies that destroy the thyroid gland and as a result it produces not enough hormones.
The early phase is manifested with high level of TSH and normal FT4 and FT3. This is called subcinical hypothyroidism and is recommended to be treated only if you have symptoms of hypothyroidism; weight gain, feeling sleepy, constipation, low heart rate, ect. In later phases, when FT4 and FT3 are low, the treatment is mandatory.
In general the pathology is chronic so the treatment is lifelong and the diet is not effective.
Hope i have been helpful.

Kind regards,
Dr.M.Guni
