Is Mammogram Needed For Tender, Strange Sensation In Left Breast Near Nipple?
I have had a strange sensation in my left "breast" near the nipple. Kind of a tenderness, not painful though. For about a month. My brother was diagnosed with breast cancer at my age. (57) Should I be getting a mamogram? Do they do mamograms for men? is there some other way of determining if I have cancer or somehing to be worried about?

thank you for writing in HMC, a family history especially in a first degree relative and age are very important risk factors for developing breast cancer. However a early detection of breast cancer has very good cure rates. so yes, if you find yoy find a lump or tenderness or any abnormality with a positive family history do consult a doctor and get an FNAC( if there is a lump) or Mammograph done to be sure. cancer in breast is usually not tender , it could be benign but to be on safer side you must do the tests. mammography is done in men too, and it is more accurate in men as men have less dense breast. Dont get worried, get the tests done at an earliest.
