Is Lung Cancer A Heritable Disease?

Hi Doctor,



I am a 28 yrs old guy, my mom passed away last year, who was agoniesd by lung cancer, was this a heritable disease??. I was smoking almost 10 fags a day , which I gave up last march, but I am worried still, will this have a bad cause on me though?? Should i have to go for a span of regular health check???

i should go for PET scan test ??? would you pls advise on this

Hello! Thank you for ur concern. More than the chance of lung cancer being hereditary, it is mainly caused by tobacco smoke, and the risk increases with the amount of daily smoking and duration of the habit. I would advise you to first quit smoking and consult a doc for check up only if u develop symptoms of cough, loss of weight or tiredness.
