Is Lump With Mastitis Sign Of Breast Cancer?

Hi, I had a tender left breast last Friday and went straight to GP that day. He said he felt a lump and has referred me to breast clinic as urgent (to be seen within 2 weeks). It really worried me as he ticked the box that said suspected breast cancer! I am 29 years old, had a baby 5 months ago, had mastitis 2 weeks after giving birth so stopped breastfeeding. I have had Thyroid cancer so had radioactive iodine treatment. Am I at risk of breast cancer here?

welcome to Health care magic.
1.If you come to me, initially i would have suspect a Ductal dilatation, which seen commonly post lactation.
2.Suspecious thing is previous thyroid problem. There could be metastasis in the breast (possible). Risk is there for a breast cancer.
3.I would suggest in your case to get investigate, start with non invasive ultrasound scan - will narrow down the diagnose.
4.An FNAC ( fine needle aspiration cytology ) investigation of choice, if inconclusive an biopsy.
Hope it helps you .
Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
