Is It Safe To Combine Lisinopril And Alcohol?

I have just started taking Lisinopril 10 mg for 5 days now. I hear that alcohol combined with Lisinopril can make your BP too low. If I skip a dose of Lisinopril, is it ok to drink alcohol and not be in danger of my BP dropping too low? It has been 20 hours since I have taken my last dose.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the suspected interaction between the two drugs mentioned in your query.

There are no known interactions between alcohol and Lisinopril however,
it is generally not safe for a patient to regularly combine lisinopril and alcohol.
Lisinopril is a medication used to treat heart problems like high BP, heart failure, preventing complications after a heart attack and treating kidney problems in people with diabetes.
Alcohol, a social drink (in small amount) is CNS depressant, but it doesn't lower the BP.

Hence, alcohol can not be replaced or substituted in place of Lisinopril for the treatment of high BP even if you skip a dose of Lisinopril.

Hope this answers your query.

A feedback is appreciated if you are convinced.
