Is It Possible To Get Arthritis Attack On Ribs?

I have been having pain starting in the right middle side of my back that comes around my middle side to the front, I have had an ultra sound of my gall bladder and that is not the problem. It mostly occurs when I am standing up for long periods of time and very active. I was told that I had arthritis. Can you get arthritis in your ribs. I take over the counter pain meds and a heating pad and the paid reduces. Could this be arthritis or possible something else. Thanks

Hi and thanks for the query,

High and thanks for the query. arthritis means inflammation of the joints. It is possible to get an inflammation at the level of the rib joints, especially with the chest bone or the sternum. A clinical review, x rays and blood tests to measure inflammation like erythrocyte sedimentation rates could be useful. Kind regards
