Is It Possible That Even Though My Hormones Are Normal I'd Still Have A Thyroid Disease?

Hi,

I used to have Thyroid problem about 10 years ago! The level of hormone was low, so I was taking Levothyroxine for about 3 years. Test results showed that I was fine so my doctor told me that I didn't need to take more levothyroxine. Now after 5 years, in a few months I gaind like 15 KG and I took a test and sonography! My TSH is: 1.72, T3 is: 1.07 and free T4 is : 1.02 which regarding to the minimum and maximum level is normal. But my thyroid sonogram showed a few nodules (both lobe) & cyst (left lobe). I'm going to have FNA(biopsy) next week. Here are my questions:

1) Is it possible that even my hormones are normal I'd still have a thyroid dissease? Does this nodules related to the hormone or it is considered for some other dissase like cancer, etc?

2) Does gaing weight related to these nodules even my hormones shown normal?

3) I feel fatigue and tired all day, is it related to this thyroid given the fact again that my thyroid produces hormones normally?

Thank you so much for the help

Hello and welcome to HCM Nadia,
I read carefully your concern and i am trying to give you some more information regarding to your pathologies:
1) Yes, it is possible to have normal hormonal result and still have a thyroid pathology, because the nodule you have does not interfere at the thyroid function. The biopsy is done to rule a malignancy (5% of the thyroid nodules may be malignant).
2) As far as your thyroid hormones are within the normal ranges, no general symptoms are expected.
3) You should try to find another cause for your symptoms.
