Is It Normal If Fetal Pole Is Not Visualized On Abdominal USG During Pregnancy?

i have had mtp with misoprostol and mifeprestone two years back due to post coital pill failure.now i have a planned pregnancy of 6 weeks.i'm having very minimal pinkish red to brown secretion(less that an ml or two per day).it does not soil my pads. my gynecologist has given me hcg inj.susten tabs and duphaston bd. also i went in for a usg abdominal at 5 weeks 6 days and the foetal pole was not visible, but yolk sac was present. should i apprehend about the bleed,or is it normal.and whether the abdominal usg cannot visualize the fetal pole ,there was a difference of three days ,the radiologist said.lmp-20 october 2012. the lh surge as per my ovulation strip was on the 2nd of November and we timed it on the 3rd evening.this was the only time in this month we planned for conception.have hypothyroidism and on thyroxine for the past two years.

I understand your concern and will do my best to answer your question.
One in three women have bleeding, spotting or blood tinged discharge in the first trimester and usually it stops on its own with no ill effects on the pregnancy. At 5 weeks, the baby's heartbeat is usually too small to see on the ultrasound. If they see the baby's heartbeat at 7-8 weeks that is an excellent sign the the pregnancy is off to a good start and is healthy. Even with continued bleeding, seeing the heartbeat usually means a healthy baby.
What is causing the bleeding? Usually we can't say for sure: the cervix becomes more delicate and can bleed and as the placenta starts growing it can trigger a little bleeding without implying anything bad for the pregnancy.
Stay on the medications you are on, get in for another ultrasound at 7 to 8 weeks and usually that brings good news.
Hope that helps
