Is It Alright To Take Plavix And Aspirin On Alternate Days After Suffering A Heart Attack?
Hello Doctor: After having a heart attack in Sept-2005, two stents one in Mid LAd and One in LAX, I was taking Plavix/Aspirin(81mg) regualry. Now I am taking Plavix and Aspirin on alternate days. Is there any danger of doing that. I am very active and do gym atleast five adys a week( Speed Walking/Elliptical/Res. tarining) etc.9moderate gym. Thanks
In your case i would probably suggest to take aspirin and plavix regularly not every other day. This will give you the maximum protection.
However if you suffer from gastric problems such as gastritis, duodenal ulcer ect the best strategy is to take aspirin 81 mg every day to reduce the risk of bleeding.
Hope i answered to your query. dr. Benard
