Is Hysterectomy A Good Choice For Spotting Due To Fibroids And Considering Being Cured Of Breast Cancer?
I had breast cancer 18 months ago and am cancer free. Have been on tamoxifen. Spotted some a few months ago and because of the size of fibroids even in the uterus they had to do a D and C. I stopped the tamoxifen. Everything looked good. I am now in menopause so they put me on aramidex. After Xmas my estrogen level had gone from 35 to 365 . I am on nothing now. My oncologist gave me four choices. 1 . Do nothing. 2. Ovaries out. 3. Chemical, lupreon. 4. Hysterectomy I am inclined to go with no. 4 because it seems that would end spotting and any future problems with fibroids. does this seem a reasonable course of action. Will a hyst. Cause lots more problems? YYYY@YYYY
Yes, a hysterectomy would and is considered to be the best solution to treating fibroids. All other options will not ensure permanent treatment.
A hysterectomy like all the other opyions will carey its side effects, the main one being a slight change in hormonal levels. Although, if your ovaries are left behind this problem.also may not arise.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
