Is High Blood Pressure Caused Due To Flu?

Im a 21 year old male with a family history of hypertension and I currently have the flu. my blood pressure today was 156/100 and im a bit worried. Im 5'10 and 240 lbs. I try my best to gym and eat properly. Can the high bp be caused by the flu i have? my temp today was 101.5 and pulse was 120

Dear patient,

Indeed, an active infection with fever can increase the blood pressure, and that is probably the current case if you do not have a history of high blood presssure. That being said, i have calculated your body mass index with your height and weight and you are in the obesity range currently, this puts you at very high risk of high blood pressure and diabetes in the future, so weight loss is paramount in your case.
