Is Fever Due To Infection In The Operated Area?

Hello Doctor, My wife is 23 weeks pregnant. During her regular check up, she has been identified with short cervix and as per our gynecologist's advice, stitching of cervical cerclage was performed yesterday. After the operation, she has been prescribed to take cefuroxime Axetil Tablets (250mg) for six days. However, from today morning, she is caught up with High Fever which comes down at times. After informing this situation to the doctor, my wife was adviced to take paracetamol tablets. Request your kind advice on this. As I am very concerned about her health. Please advice if this situation is a result of any sort of infection in the operated area which I came to know to be symptom for the same from internet.

Dear member
Thanks for writing.
Your concern is valid.
High fever can be due to infection anywhere in the body but as she has undergone a surgery recently it's better to check by evaluating the area.
I believe she needs immediate admission again and intravenous antibiotics and culture and sensitivity of the discharge.
Thanks
