Is Consuming Alcohol Advisable While Suffering From Liver Disorder?

I was treated for enemia. I have a bad liver. I was bleeding internally and had to have a camera go down my throte and have some vains or something bent to stop the bleeding. I had a blood transfusion, and spent 3 days and 4 nights in the hospital. My question is.....IF I were to drink every now and then, I know, but every now and then, would I begin to just bleed again.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You suffer from portal hypertension due to liver cirrhosis. You may start bleeding even without alcohol drinking. If you try to drink alcohol, your liver may become insufficient and bleeding can be the best you may expect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Grzegorz Stanko
