Is Blood Pressure Of 117/ 57 Normal When Generally The BP Is 138/ 70?

my father has been having blood pressure issues, he recently had a stroke. he has recovered well. but today his blood pressure was 117 over 57.. Never has the 2nd number been that low, however today he actually did more walking them normal. where does the 57 fit in to the equation of being ok. we know 117 is ok. usually tho he is 138/ 70ish . just worried about the 2nd number?
Thanks

Dear User,
Thanks for using health care magic.

From the available description it appears that your concern is lower BP of your father. 117/57 is considered normal for a normal individual but after a history of stroke it should not be considered normal. But this type of decline of BP can occur in case of dehydration after prolonged walking. If he is taking anti hypertensive than that could be cause for low BP. My suggestion at this stage is to give him adequate fluid and than measure the BP again. If it return to normal than it is ok. If even after fluid supplementation it remains low than consult your physician.

'Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help".
Thanks
