Is Bactrim Safe For Infants With Borderline Citrobacter Infection?

3.5 months old baby. borderline citrobacter was found in the urine infection, were given gentomycin for 3 days and prescribed Bactrim for the next 7 days, 30ml twice a day, is bactrim safe for such a small baby, what does borderline citrobacter mean? Please help

before jumping on to seeing the safety of a medication, one should obtain enough evidence to decide the necessity of the drug. it its true urinary tract infection, use of bactrim may be justified to prevent further spread of infection to the kidneys causing pyelonephritis. meanwhile one should look for the culture sensitivity report of the urine to try safer alternatives particularly in a child.
