Is A Low Carb Diet Effective In Killing Off Yeast Causing Infection?
Hi: I am taking fluconazole 200mg now for 3 weeks and still feel some vaginal itching. Have patients been on for over a month, as my perscription is only for 30 days? I was diagnosed with systemic yeast infection and I am diabetic with a1c of 6.1, so under good control. My question to you is, would a no carb diet(of course insulin adj necessary) be beneficai in killing off the the yeast in me?
Hi. Diabetes led low immunity level has led to the systemic yeast infection. Your top priority should be 1. Keeping sugar level under control. 2. Treating infection with anti- fungal agents. 3. Improving your immunity.
A no carb diet will not add value to the treatment. A minimum level of carbohydrates is necessary for body functioning. Check with your dietician about the amount of carbohydrates you can consume daily , track your food calories/ macro calories and stick to it.
It is definitely possible that some infections can take time, when immunity is compromised. From your statement, I assume you did have some improvements, which is good. After the one month period , I suggest you to visit your physician for an assessment of your infection status.
