Is A Delay In Period Sign Of Pregnancy?

Hi,
I had sexual intercourse approximately 2 months ago the last time. The last two times, I was extremely paranoid even though we used protection (condom) and I proceeded to take the morning after pill both times. The pharmacist told me my period could be up to 7 days late, and it was 5 days late but it came. I'm due in about a week, I'm having extremely bad cramps and breast pains, could I be pregnant?

Hi,

As you have taken I-pill post sex in the mentioned timing, chances of pregnancy is less. I-pills has side effects like stomach pain, dizziness, headache, breast pain, upset stomach, changes in menstrual cycle, back ache etc. However, these pills are not always 100% protective. If you are worried, wait for a week to get your regular cycle. If not getting, do a HPT to rule out pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
