General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Composition of Ovisterone is 'Dehydroepiandrosterone' (DHEA). It is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the adrenal glands and reproductive organs in the body. DHEA is converted in the body to androgens & estrogens.
Hence, its intake is known to improve ovarian reserves and response to ovulation induction. Thus it improves conception rates and minimizing miscarriages, thus increased pregnancy outcome.
It is not a contraceptive pill.
Since the doctor has advised you to take this medication, you can clarify whether to try naturally or is there a plan to go for next IVF cycle.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
