Irregular Periods, Bleed Stops With Famynor Pills. What Is Wrong?

Hi Doc!

I'm not sure what's wrong with me but since i was growing up when i started my periods it was very awkward. I will start my periods with lot of blood for 5-7 days then i started my contraceptive when i was 18yrs for 1yr and my periods stopped for the whole year then i started again when i was 20yrs and it was not normal then i gave birth now when i was 25yrs and my periods didn't stop for 2 months and i had 2 go 2 the Chemist for contraceptive and it stopped immediately but few weeks after it started again and now i have to take Famynor pills to stop the bleeding. The most thing i do not understand it's when a person is talking about the periods, i get my periods then i have to take a pill again. What's wrong with me Doc? Please help!!!

Hello,

There are several reasons of irregular period like hormonal imbalance, stress, ovarian cyst or PCOS, thyroid problem, weight gain, pelvic infection etc.

Prolonged bleeding for 2 months or menorrhagia may be due to uterine fibroid, adeomyosis or polyp or hormonal cause.

Here, you need to undergo some investigation like pelvic USG, thyroid profile, LH/ FSH, blood prolactin, sugar test etc. It will help to make a concrete diagnosis.

Hormonal medication is quite effective in controlling irregular period or heavy bleeding. It helps to regularize period. Kindly, consult with gynecologist and proceed overall check up and tests. Take supportive medication accordingly.
