Intercourse After Having Cesarean Delivery 10 Weeks Ago, Painful Burning Sensation. Tear Uterine Scar?
Hello. I am 10 weeks post op c section after laboring for 35 hours and have really been taking it easy. My husband and I just tried intercourse for the first time in 3 months and I started to feel a painful burning sensation on the right side of my pelvis ...ndirectly right of my transverse c section scar . Did I tear my uterine scar??? Or do damage?? Is this normal??
The c-scar of the overlying skin + muscles, usually takes 10-12 weeks for complete healing and restoration of normal strength. Hence, the chances of the superficial scar tear is minimal. However, due to disuse of the abdominal muscles around the scar, a sudden stretch as during intercourse, can cause spasm of the adjacent muscles. A short 3-5 day's course of muscle relaxant drug will relieve you of the pain.
Chances of uterine scar tear are very minimal, as intercourse does NOT involve any stretch of uterus muscles.
So, please relax.
There is, however, no harm in consulting your gynecologist for a physical examination of the scars.
