Intense Pain On Bending The Knee, Post Treatment For Chip On The Tibial Tuberosity. Cause?

My son fell and had a chip on the tibial tuberosity. He was in a leg immobilizer for 6 weeks. He also had stitches to his knee . Leg looks great and x-ray was clear. Immobilizer was removed Tuesday and he is in terrible pain when attempting to bend his knee. Is this normal? What should we be doing besides heat, gentle stretching and bending?

Hi.
Thanks for choosing HCM.
You are right- the knee after 6 weeks of immobilization takes some time to get over the stiffness. Please give liberal hot fomentation & gentle bending exercises for a week or two. He should be OK
You may give some pain relievers in the mean time.
