Does A Tibia Injury Need Medical Attention?

28, 5 4 , 140 healthy female. About 3 1/2 weeks ago, I was playing softball and got hit on my tibia. When I took my sock off, I iced and elevated it for about 30 minutes and it swelled up like I had a baseball sticking out of my shin. Over the next few days, I iced it and elevated it a lot both at work and at home. The bruise and swelling are now gone but it is still sore to the touch and there is a bump on the bone now. Should I see a doctor about this or wait to see if it goes away? Thanks!

Hello,

Since after getting hit by a softball your tibia shows swelling and you are experiencing soreness and pain, you are suggested to give rest to your legs. Keep it elevated on a stool while sitting or a pillow when on bed. Compression bandage may give relief. Take analgesics or pain relieving medicines like Combiflam, one SOS when required. Do not massage.

You can apply ointment Thrombophob on the swelling gently so that any blood clots under the skin may get dispersed and swelling get reduced. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics and get X-ray, CT and MRI (if required) done to detect the pathology causing the discomfort. You will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
