Insulin Dependant. On Susten For Irregular Periods. Safe To Take Along With 4 Insulins A Day?
hello doctor my daughter is 33years and insulin dependant for 2 years .her period has become slightly irreegular and this month it is delayed by 14 days.Her preg test at shows negative at home.Her doctor examineed her and pWhy whyut her on susten 300 for 3 days saying she will get her periods in 10 days.How safe is this tablet for a diabetic.Why is she asked to take this tablet?She has 2 kids and not planning for third.She takes 4 insulin a day

Susten is a progestrone a hormonal pill, progestrone is a hormone essential for females, deficiency of which can cause many problems as irregular menses etc.
In this case it is prescribed likely to normalize irregular menses.
It definately safe in diabetics and can be taken with insulin.

SUSTEN 300 is a synthetic progesterone and is similar to the progesterone being made in the body.Since your periods have been delayed and pregnancy has been ruled out,a short course of SUSTEN 300 would result in withdrawl bleeding around 2-7 days after the last dose.This is the method to kick start your normal periods.There is no problem for an insulin dependent diabetic in consuming SUSTEN.
