Infant Having Mucous Like Pale Discharge. Have Red Rashes On Chest, Arm And Face. Concerned

my 18mth old has a small mucous like pale discharge in his nappy. He had an allergic reaction to a berry or something last night and also has quite bad nappy rash. The reaction was in the form of red rashes on his chest , arms, face, legs and it seemed to make the nappy rash worse. It cleared up as fast as it came on but we re concerned as we are also in a remote part of Malaysia (Langkawi) Thanks, Rob

Hi Rob,

Thank you for your query.

It is good that the allergic rash has disappeared but the nappy rash and the mucus like pale discharge is disturbing you. I suggest that you apply some bland ointment or oil in the nappy area and leave it open as much as possible. This should control the nappy rash. In case the nappy rash persists then a mild steroid ointment would have to be used.

If the mucus like pale discharge again appears then an examination by a doctor would be advisable to know the exact cause.
