Infant Having Cough, Blocked Nose, No Relief With Tminic, Later Prescribed Asthalin. What Else Can Be Done?
Hi, My baby is 8 months old. She has cough (congestion in the chest ) and blocked nose . Her doctor first gave her Tminic drops. We tried the medicine for two days but her condition didnt improved. So we again went to the doctor and he gave her Asthalin expectorant for 5 days. What more can we do to relieve her congestion.
Hello
Thanks for the query
Most of the time the sound you listen or the vibration which you feel on the chest is due to blockade of upper airways only and misinterpreted as having congestion in chest due to cough. Nasal saline drops and expectorant are enough in most of the cases. To rule out cough and infection in chest clinical evaluation and radiological evaluation is needed. So I would suggest you to continue with same medication and observe for any rapid respiration, indrawing of chest, nasal flaring, decreased feeding and associated fever. If you notice any of these consult your doctor immediately.
I hope this answers your query well
Wish you and your family good health
