Infant Has Diarrhea. Due To Formula Milk?

Hi my baby is 4.5 months old. He was on breastfeeding since birth and sometime I used to give lactogen1/Nan1.
But he disliked it. I changed the formula milk to Daxolac 1, he liked it, but now he has loose stools like diarrhea and also started to poop around 6-7 times a day comparative to once in a day. Can it be because of the formula milk kindly suggest.

Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
Exclusive breastfeeding till the age of 6 months is the best method of feeding.
With bottle feeding loose motions will occur because of contamination during feeding, handling, or preparation of formula feeds.
I advise you to give exclusive breast feeds.
Oral probiotic to be given for loose stools.
Consult the pediatrician for examination and prescription of probiotic and zinc supplementation.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.
A baby should be exclusively breast fed till 6 months of age. Breast feeding is important as this contains the right things required for the baby in right proportions at the right time. It is ideal for brain growth. Breast milk prevents various infections like loose motions, respiratory infections, etc.

So give exclusive breast feeding for your baby till 6 months and continue to breast feed your baby till 2 years of age.

Those loose motions could be because of infection viral or bacterial.
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi
Thanks for your query.
I suggest you to give EXCLUSIVE BREAST FEEDING till 6 months of age.
Yes loose stools could be due to formula feeds. Reason being;
-contamination of bottle.
-inability of baby to digest cows milk which is main ingredient of formula.

Give breast feeding and in case symptoms persist get him examined by pediatrician for further management.

God bless..
