Infant Had White Uncooked Rice Like Objects In Stools. What Could It Be?
Changed my one year olds diaper and we noticed a good number of white uncooked rice like objects. They were not moving. Wondering if she ate the rice at daycare and it passed undigested. Not going to be able to find that out till tomorrow. She is doing fine but did have somewhat of lack of an appetite at dinner time. Any suggestions of what this might be.Trying to rule out parasites
Hi
Sometimes infant passes stool undigested with particles of food which are visible in stools. If there is history sugestive of worm infestation like playing in mud or keeping mud in mouth go for stool routine examination for ova and cysts to rule out for any worms after consulting your children specialist and if they are present in stool deworming can be done in a 1 year old child.
Hello
White uncooked rice like particles in stool may be undigested food, dead worms or mucus flakes. You have not mentioned any altered bowel habit.
So its better to get the stool examination done both routine/microscopy and for parasites.
Have you given any antihelminthic to here few days back. That may cause passage of dead worms in stool. The lack of appetite which you have noticed may be just an objective finding.
So observe the stool to check whether that white material is still present and also get the stool report done. Consult your physician with the report to find or rule out any abnormality.
