Incisional Hernia Done With Mesh. Pain Around The Specified Area. Hematoma Hurts?

Hello, I am. 38 year old female, I had a incisional hernia repair done 3 weeks ago with mesh. For the last 4 days I have had severe stabbing pains above the repair site. It feels warm to the touch. I went to GP today who said it is most likely a hematoma, as I have no signs of infection. Does a hematoma normally hurt this much? Thanks
