How To Treat Stomach Pain?

Hi I had a hysterectomy (abdominal cutting) in july 2010 for cervical cancer, since then I have severe pain in stomach before and during bowel movements. I can not pass gas or use the restroom unless I drink milk of magnesia first. My butt hurts when sitting down, passing gas and trying to have movement. I can only eat fruit/vegetables or liquid diet in last week due to the progressing pain. I take hydrocodone for neurological problems and have for 7 years. I drink only water or juices. I also have bloating/swelling of the abdomen and at times bright red blood when wiping, some with the feeling of passing bowel movement but not doing so. I chew benefiber 9 tablets daily as well as gas-x with no relief. The surgeon said at my 6 week checkup after surgery said it was normal. I could deal with it somewhat until the last week. The pain is nearly unbearable! No insurance and seeking online help

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Pain in abdomen before sand during passing bowel movements after hysterectomy for cervical cancer in 2010 and increased in last week is indicative of the following reasons:
Intestinal obstruction, adhesion, kinking of intestine or so on.
The blood on wiping may be due to the development of fissure or piles secondary to the constipation that you have.
I would advise you the following in such a situation.
X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to see for any intestinal obstruction seen as gas-fluid levels.
Contrast enhanced CT scan of abdomen.
Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and you may have to go for surgery if there is intestinal obstruction due to whatever cause and get it corrected surgically.
