How To Treat Paracentral Disc Herniation?

This is the conclusion of my MRI - what do you think the next step would be? mid 30 s female - slightly overweight. Had back issues for couple of yrs managed at home with anti-inflamatories. Hurt back in Feb and pain won t go away. Just had an MRI. There is a large right paracentral hernia of the L4/5 disc which is prematurely degenerate as is the L5/S1 disc. The hernia is likely to result in significant right L5 nerve root compression

Hi,

You may start to take physiotherapy sessions for your back in the first place, if it introduces no good, you may need surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
