How To Treat My Baby's Deficiency Of G6pd?

my baby is now 2month old.but he is born he have defiencey of G6pd .so doctor told to do check in 3month of baby.i just want to know is my baby safe and what treatment is their for this G6pd.is similac formula is good i m giving that.im not doing breast feeding.

Hi, thanks for asking.
I can understand your concerns.
G6PD deficiency is an enzyme deficiency. As such a person with G6PD does not have any problems but they must avoid certain medications which can cause hemolysis due to G6PD deficiency. So, your child is safe but you have to always inform any docotr before any prescription about his G6pd deficiency.
Also some young infants show deficiency of G6pd early but later on this deficiency is not there. So as advised by your doctor please get it repeated at 3 months and then 1 yr of age.
Breast feeding is best for the baby, but if you are not able to then similac formula is good.
