How To Treat Dog Bite?

My 38 year old daughter was bitten by a dog 1 week ago on the high inner thigh. She was given antibiotics. Today she has a hard lump at the puncture site and pain throughout her pelvic area. She has to stand all day at work. Does it sound like a hematoma, infection, or possible blood clot?

Hi There ,

Thanks for your query .

Hard lump with pain after an bite do suggest an hematoma which might also get infected if it doesnt resolve , only clinical examination can differentiate between two. So i suggest you to visit a doctor.

You had mentioned only about the antibiotics and not about the post exposure anti rabies vaccination which is more important in every dog bite. So if you have not started the vaccination schedule , kindly start the vaccination and consult a doctor for the same.
