Suggest Treatment To Drain Hematoma From Left Hip

I had an accident and have a large hematoma on my left hip. It is extremely painfull, can t sleep on that side and it hurts to sit with out my weight focused on my right side. I once had a small hematoma on my forehead and it was removed. The pain went away instantly. Is there a surgery to drain this so I can be releived of pain? Your truly, Lisa

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to hematoma. I suggest using a cold compress or ice pack application for 20 to 30 minutes for the 48 hours following injury to reduce swelling.

I also suggest using light compression with a wrapped bandage. I recommend using pain medication such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) to treat the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
