I got food poisoning from home made ceviche with tilapia. I made it on Friday night for a party Saturday night. Took some to work on Monday and forgot to put it in the fridge. In the afternoon it never dawned on me that I forgot to stick my fish in the fridge...and I went ahead and ate it. Tuesday I woke up with a stomach ache and nausea and went about my day. Wednesday (4/27/11) morning hits, and symptoms are worst. I get out bed for my morning run and mid way through I had to run to the bathroom with diarrhea. After the diarrhea, I started throwing up, I had low grade fever, horrible abdominal pains that wrapped around my entire midsection. It kept going like that for all day Wednesday and most of Thursday. Here we are almost a month later(5/18/11) and 20 lbs less. I have a dull stomach ache daily (sometimes stronger than other days). I have bouts of diarrhea and constipation. I can t eat much, and the little bit I can eat is raw food (beans, lettuce, avocado) and bread, crackers, cheese. I don t have an appetite for meat or fish. I avoid all sauces, spices, liquor, citrus acids. Anything that doesn t agree with my stomach aggravates the pain , causes nausea, and feels like acid on my stomach. If I over eat my stomach hurts and I spend the next hour burping. My stomach makes all sorts of weird noises (bubbling sounds, hunger growls, etc...). Since I m having difficulty eating and digesting my food...severe constipation will kick in and if I push to hard to go I m thinking I may be over exerting myself and my sugar levels bottom out and I start experiencing a blackout. My health insurance kicks in next month (June). So, I ve been holding out and trying to be a trooper. I know something is not right, as this has been going on too long. What can this be?
