Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My Mother In law is 76 yrs old and gets frequent constipation, colicky diffuse pain in the abdomen and occasional bouts of nausea. Her abdominal ultrasound, colonoscopy show normal findings. We are giving her psyllium husk, high fiber diet and plenty of fluids as of now. Doctors suspect she has IBS. How should we go about this?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if the tests that is being done are normal as long as the given symptoms of constipation, abdomen pain, nausea are concern then it could be IBS only, she has to take fiber containing diet, drink more water, try to come out of the stress, IBS is more or less is the functional kind of disease so no need to worry about this hope this information helps.
