How To Treat Buttock Injury With Hematoma And Lump?

Age 60 female, I fell on my steps 2 wks ago. HUGE hematoma on left buttock, mostly gone now, but a lump remains, about 9 wide, sticking out about 2 like a hot dog from butt cheek, getting larger and harder each day. I feel discomfort in it all the time. Do I need to go to the doc? If yes, what kind of doc? I am out of town on business, taking ibuprofen for it, but definitely have discomfort and concern as it gets larger.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most of the hematoma sells will settle by itself. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan. If the size is large, it has to be drained under local anaesthesia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
