How To Treat A Swollen Foot Caused By Trauma?

I have had a swollen right foot (Top) for about 5 years now (I think following a twisting of some sort on a bouncy castle), it has become progressively more swollen during the course of this time. There is no pain but it is becoming unsightly. It feels quite spongy on the top. I am 5ft, 5 , 8.5st, run regularly (30 mins, 5 days per week) and am in good health otherwise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It sounds like you have a ligament injury that is causing your ankle to remain unstable. This will cause swelling that can persist. I would advise you to get an MRI of your ankle to evaluate the cause of this. You may need an intervention or rest to allow it to heal completely prior to returning to normal life.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
