How To Treat A Ruptured Left Eardrum?

I ruptured my left eardrum 2.5 weeks ago apparently pretty badly. I am on oral and eardrop antibiotics. I have quite a bit of itchiness in that ear right now and I am wondering if this could be a sign of healing? What are other signs of healing beside the blood/pus lessening/stopping and hearing coming back?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Small perforations of ear drum may heal itself. But in case of big perforations may need surgery (tympanoplasty). Signs of recovery is complete dry ear, no ear pain and impaired hearing. Use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day.

If symptoms not improved please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
