Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
It is a matter of definite concern that you have a BMI of 45.5. You are having
morbid obesity, Traditional
weight loss programs that rely on a combination of diet, exercise, and behavior modification may not be suitable for you and I think you would need to undergo
bariatric surgery and post-surgery maintenance of lifestyle factors.
Obviously, there are several factors on which it depends whether you are a candidate for bariatric surgery or not, including your current physical condition, presence of any co-morbidity, your current medications, if any, etc.
CMC Vellore is a wonderful option. You may consult the Upper GI, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery unit of General Surgery Department of CMC, Vellore at the earliest.
For the time being, you should have lifestyle modifications and dietary restrictions.
1. Exercise or yoga for 45 min./day, if not contraindicated
2. Salt restricted, fat restricted, low calorie, high fiber frequent small meals are best.
Tests e.g. Fasting TSH, Fasting
Lipid Profile, Fasting plasma
glucose,
HBA1c, Fasting LFT may be needed. An
endocrinologist consultation may also be needed.
