How To Reduce Frequent PVCs And Shortness Of Breath? Chest X-ray Shows Hyperinflation. Have Asthma Problem
I have had asthma since my late twenties. I m now 65. In November, I moved to Denver from Anchorage. In the last two weeks, I have become more short of breath. I have a history of PVCs and one episode of lone a-fib two years ago. I have some mild chest pain which has previously been diagnosed as chostrochondritis. Last evening, I went to an ER because of shortness of breath and arrythmia. Chest X-rays were o.k just showing hyperinflation. Blood tests came back fine, according to ER doc. I have had a stress test within the last year that was good. I am concerned about the shortness of breath and frequent PVCs. I have never smoked and do not consume caffeine. Is there anything I can do to reduce the PVCs and shortness of breath? Could altitude be a factor after 2 1/2 months? Thank you.
The shortness of breath appears to be because of asthma. You should take your inhalers regularly esp the one that have long acting beta agonists and steroids. However in view of PVCs and a fib, it`s better to have a complete cardiac work up in consultation with a cardiologist. If every thing comes normal, there is no cause for concern as at times PVCs are present in normal persons also. Yes altitude is a factor in shortness of breath because of low oxygen in atmosphere esp in asthmatics.
