How To Overcome The Aching And Itching Hip?

This sounds stupid, I know, but say you have bursitis (which I don't know if I do), could the area over the site of bursitis itch. My hip aches a lot and itches. Almost like a deep itch. No swelling or redness noted. The pain is not excruciating only an ache. This has been happening on and off for over a year. Thank you for looking.

Hi

Thanks for your question.

The pain from trochanteric bursitis is an aching pain localized over the bump on the outside of your hip. It should hurt when you press on this area or lie on it. It is possible that irritation in this area could cause an itchy sensation.

The treatment for trochanteric bursitis is physiotherapy for IT Band stretching and hip girdle muscle strengthening, anti-inflammatory medication and occasional steroid shots. Most of the time this deals with the problem.

Best wishes
