I have problem with my toenails. One toe nail (big toe) just lifted off. other big toe nail had dark spots (looked bruised) and it eventually raised from nail bed. I have since cut both nails which have begin to grow back. However the nails are growing back rough, with appearance of ridges throughout the nails.
Hello, Thanks for your query. Toe-nails are commonly affected in fungal infection with dermatophytes. Can manifest in form of altered color of nails, dystrophic nails, blackened broken nails, powdery white nails. A fungal infection of toe web spaces and soles commonly acompanies. Treatment consists of oral and topical antifungal drugs like terbinafine. Splinter hemorrhages can be a possibility with linear pigmented lines over nails. Meanwhile, I'd suggest not to wear those shoes for a while until the toenail is improved. Frequent trauma does not permit the toenail to get healed. In addition, you should look for signs of infection as the bruising site could have been infected. You should apply cold compresses to the affected area and keep your feet well cleaned and ventilated to get healed. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
