How To Cure A Large Hematoma On Shin?

My 83 yr old mom fell 4 months ago and had a large hematoma on shin, no skin was broken, still abit swollen and skin has peeled and a few spots have appeared closer to foot, it looks very nasty and is itchy, is it something to do with damaging lymphatic system?

Hi,

This is most likely to be a hematoma which has gravitated to the leg. It normally takes a few weeks. But if it is persisting then it requires blood examination for any clotting disorder. Consult your physician ASAP. It is not due to damage in the lymphatic system but blood.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Gopal Goel,
