How To Control Snorting?

My husband, age 55, emits a very forceful snorting sound at the end of each breath, at the end of words, while eating, all the time. The only time he doesn t make this sound is when sleeping. He was told in the past that he had a very large uvula and I don t know if he is snorting it out of the way when breathing. I also thought it was VPI. Sometimes he snorts four, five, or six times in a row. He can control it for a few minutes when confronted but most of the time, he just continues making it. I don t know if speech therapy would help him breathe and control this sound.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The reason underlying sounds to be hypertrophied turbinates, uvula obstruction or else. The surgery of underlying pathology correction would be the only way to control the issue surely.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
