How Should A Thyroid Nodule Be Treated?

I was recently informed that I have a nodule on the right side of my thyroid. It measures 1 cm x 3.4 cm and had ultrasound as well as FNA. The FNA was benign and now my doctor seems to be done with me. What are my options? I have got lots of information online and that is really the only information I have received.

Hello,
Thank you for asking your question at healthcare magic

If your nodule is benign and not causing any problems, your doctor will not do any active treatment right now.Your doctor will closely watch you to see if the nodule is causing any problems.
However if the nodule start producing increased thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism) you will need medications. If it causes any compression symptoms, surgery may be warranted

Hope I was able to answer your question
please feel free to address any more concerns
